Scott Westgarth had conducted his post-fight interviews before he was taken ill backstage – a GoFundMe page has now been set up to raise money for Scott’s family. The Newcastle fighter secured a points victory against Dec Spelman at the Doncaster Dome on Saturday night. But he was struggling after the fight and needed paramedics to attend to him in his locker room. Westgarth’s promoter, Stefy Bull, confirmed the devastating news on social media Monday morning.

Who is Scott Westgarth?

Westgarth was a 31-year-old boxer from Northumberland. His fight record was seven wins from 10 with two draws and one defeat with a 20% KO rate. He was a light heavyweight and made his debut in 2013. Saturday’s victory gave him four wins in a row.

Former world heavyweight champion Frank Bruno wrote: “Very saddened to hear a boxer lost his life, my thoughts are with his family at this difficult time. RIP Scott Westgarth.”

Bruno also included a link to a GoFundMe page that has been started to raise money for Scott’s family. The page was started by Chris Waddams. It was created  to “raise money for Scott’s family to help them in any way, shape or form.”
